Install Tanso TV on Windows
Applies to Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) · Tanso TV 1.0.0
What you'll need
- A PC running 64-bit Windows 10 or 11
- An OTA antenna, positioned to receive local broadcast signals
- A compatible USB TV tuner (MyGica®/Geniatech® A681 or A681B) connected to the antenna and to your computer
- A few GB of free disk space for recordings (more is better — HD recordings run ~3–6 GB/hour)
Installation steps
- Set up your tuner first. Connect the antenna to the tuner's antenna input and plug the tuner into a USB port on your PC. Follow the tuner's own setup to confirm it can see channels.
-
Download the Windows installer from the downloads page
(
TansoTV-1.0.0-win64.exe). Optionally verify the SHA-256 checksum listed there. - Run the installer. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the prompts. If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unrecognized app, click More info → Run anyway. (This is expected for independently distributed software and doesn't mean the file is unsafe — especially after you've verified the checksum.)
- Launch Tanso TV from the Start menu. On first run, the setup wizard will detect your USB tuner — select it when it appears.
- Select your tuner and scan for channels. Pick the tuner Tanso TV found, then run a channel scan. This takes a few minutes. When it finishes, you'll see every channel your antenna can receive.
- Choose a recording folder. Point Tanso TV at a drive with plenty of space — an external or secondary drive is ideal so recordings don't fill your system disk.
- Done. Press record on anything you're watching. See Using Tanso TV for the tour.
Weak signal? Most "missing channel" problems are antenna problems, not software problems.
Try moving the antenna near a window, higher up, or facing your local broadcast towers before rescanning.
Uninstalling
Use Settings → Apps → Installed apps, select Tanso TV, and choose Uninstall. Your recordings are kept in your recording folder unless you delete them yourself.
